American's First Bitters Brewery - Based in New Orleans
In 2017, after spending years working with countless chefs, different restaurants, hotels, and events, Christa Cotton (founder and CEO of El Guapo) was looking for a bit of a change. She formed the New Orleans Beverage Group right before obtaining the El Guapo recipes and trademark and deciding to re-enter the artisan spirits industry where she got her start. Christa spent the following two years perfecting the brewing process and recipes before launching a new product line. Most bitter-producing distilleries craft their bitters with grain-neutral spirit bases in facilities that blend and bottle extracts that they then sell as “bitters.” El Guapo, on the other hand, has created a new brewing process that results in 100% alcohol-free bitters. The end product is magnificent, as evidenced by their Creole Grenadine, which is certified Cajun by the Louisiana Department of Agriculture.
The El Guapo team truly loves the craftsmanship, uniqueness, and respect the quality of the products they create, and garner much delight in bringing them to the consumer, no matter where they might be. You can find them down in New Orleans, making delectable bitters and living their best lives.
